BScN Degree -

Yarmouth Site

South West Nova District Health Authority

Since September 1995, Dalhousie University offers the four year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, in its entirety, in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Yarmouth is located approximately 300 km south west of Halifax. Click on these sites for more about Yarmouth www.aboutyarmouth.com/ and http://www.yarmouth.org

This program offers a unique nursing education for students to learn nursing in a small community setting. It also provides opportunities to study without the expenses of living in a city. The School of Nursing is connected to the newly renovated Yarmouth Regional Hospital http://www.swndha.nshealth.ca/yrh.htm.

Residence facilities are located in the School of Nursing at the Beulah Raymond Hall, owned and operated by the South West Nova District Health Authority. This five-story building consists of two lower floors devoted to teaching and office space.  The teaching/learning space consists of classrooms, tutorials, study rooms, computer laboratory, skills laboratory, and communications laboratory. The residence is connected to the Hospital and to the Library by an underground tunnel.

The residence provides living accommodation for approximately 45 students.  The rooms are equipped with standard furnishings such as beds, desks and storage drawers.  Each residence floor has full cooking facilities and the Hospital cafeteria is available to students at modest prices.  A single room is $200.00 per month and a double room (shared) is $179.00 per month.

Like the Halifax site of the BScN program, this program is designed to prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills to meet a challenging future in health care. Students register online with Dalhousie and will graduate from Dalhousie University.

The Yarmouth Site also delivers online courses in the BScN program primarily for Post RN students. The Yarmouth site also offers many site-specific bursaries and scholarships.
